The words gathered through the OPEN CALL_IN THE ERA OF AI, will be used by visual artist Danae Stratou in the creation of an art video which will be presented at the event titled “In the era of AI: Labour relations and the Human Creativity”, organised by mέta | Centre for Postcapitalist Culture, on Saturday 18 May 2024 at 16:00, at Lofos Art Project Velvendou 39, Athens 113 64.
ABOUT THIS OPEN CALL
We live in the midst of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Technology is advancing in an extremely rapid manner, bringing about deep structural changes to the production process, labor relations and the very concept of artistic creation. Automation, robotics and artificial intelligence are changing everything in the way we work, in the ways we express our creativity. But, we must not forget: technology is an instrument, a tool and as such, it’s neutral, it does not predetermine our destinies by itself. It is the ownership of technology and the ways in which it is used that determine the ways -negative or positive- technology affects our lives. The discussion on this very important issue is absent from the public domain and the political debate.
Let’s inaugurate it!

À PROPOS DE CET APPEL OUVERT
Nous vivons au sein de la quatrième révolution industrielle. La technologie progresse de manière extrêmement rapide, entraînant de profonds changements structurels dans le processus de production, les relations de travail et le concept même de création artistique. L’automatisation, la robotique et l’intelligence artificielle sont en train de tout changer dans la manière dont nous travaillons, dans la manière dont nous exprimons notre créativité. Mais il ne faut pas oublier que la technologie est un instrument, un outil et qu’en tant que tel, elle est neutre, elle ne prédétermine pas nos destins à elle seule. C’est la propriété de la technologie et la façon dont elle est utilisée qui déterminent la manière dont la technologie affecte nos vies, qu’elle soit négative ou positive. La discussion sur cette question très importante est absente du domaine public et du débat politique.

ÜBER DIESEN OFFENEN AUFRUF
Wir leben inmitten der 4. industriellen Revolution. Die Technologie schreitet extrem schnell voran und bringt tiefgreifende strukturelle Veränderungen im Produktionsprozess, in den Arbeitsbeziehungen und im Konzept des künstlerischen Schaffens selbst mit sich. Automatisierung, Robotik und künstliche Intelligenz verändern unsere Arbeitsweise und die Art und Weise, wie wir unsere Kreativität zum Ausdruck bringen. Aber wir dürfen nicht vergessen: Technologie ist ein Instrument, ein Werkzeug, und als solches ist sie neutral, sie bestimmt nicht von sich aus unsere Schicksale. Es ist der Besitz der Technologie und die Art und Weise, wie sie eingesetzt wird, die darüber entscheiden, wie die Technologie unser Leben beeinflusst – ob negativ oder positiv. Die Diskussion über dieses sehr wichtige Thema ist in der Öffentlichkeit und in der politischen Debatte noch nicht angekommen.

“Im Zeitalter der KI: Arbeitsbeziehungen und die menschliche Kreativität”

Ζούμε στην εποχή της 4ης Βιομηχανικής Επανάστασης. Η τεχνολογία καλπάζει, φέρνοντας κατακλυσμικές αλλαγές στην παραγωγική διαδικασία, τις σχέσεις εργασίας, την ίδια την έννοια της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας. Αυτοματοποίηση, ρομποτική και τεχνητή νοημοσύνη αλλάζουν τα πάντα στον τρόπο που εργαζόμαστε, στον τρόπο που εκφράζουμε τη δημιουργικότητά μας.
Δεν πρέπει όμως να λησμονούμε: η τεχνολογία είναι εργαλείο και ως τέτοιο, είναι ουδέτερη, δεν προκαθοριζει τις τύχες μας. Η ιδιοκτησία της τεχνολογίας και οι τρόποι χρήσης της είναι αυτά που καθορίζουν το πρόσημο των συνεπειών της στις ζωές μας. Η συζήτηση όμως για αυτό το τόσο σημαντικό θέμα εκλείπει από τη δημόσια σφαίρα και τον πολιτικό διάλογο.
Οι λέξεις που συγκεντρώθηκαν μέσα από το OPEN CALL_IN THE ERA OF AI, θα χρησιμοποιηθούν από την εικαστικό Δανάη Στράτου στη δημιουργία καλλιτεχνικού βίντεο που θα παρουσιαστεί στην εκδήλωση με τίτλο «In the Era of AI: Labor Relations and the Human Creativity» που διοργανώνει το mέta | Κέντρο Μετακαπιταλιστικού Πολιτισμού, το Σάββατο 18 Μαΐου 2024 στις 16:00, στο Lofos Art Project Velvendou 39, Αθήνα 113 64.
